Awarded movie chosen to represent the global campaign "50 for Freedom"
Up to what point is it possible to exploit a man? This is one of the topics of the movie 'El patrón: la radiografía de un crimen', based on a real case of modern slavery and awarded by various film festivals of major importance. The ILO (International Labour Organization) chose this film to promote the global campaign '50 for Freedom' and arranged an especial projection in Geneva, Switzerland, which was attended by the protagonist of the movie, the Argentinian actor Joaquín Furriel, who plays Hermógenes, the main character who's a victim of modern slavery.
The free projection of the film, directed by Sebastián Schindel, took place in the Cinérama Empire of Geneva. Joaquín Furriel was present in the post-projection debate panel, along with Anne-Marie von Arx-Vernon, Adjunct Director of the refugee 'Au coeur des Grottes' and Aurélie Hauchère Vuong, expert on forced labour for ILO. A Facebook Live was broadcasted as well, where viewers were able to ask questions on the current actions to promote sensitization on forced labour, human trafficking and modern slavery, which affects more than 21 milion people worldwide. As a part of his trip, the Argentinian actor was received by Guy Ryder, ILO Director General, whom he spoke with on his role as an actor committed with the fight against forced labour. Since 2016, Joaquín is committed with the global campaign '50 for Freedom', as many other important actors, such as Wagner Moura, Robin Wright y David Oyelowo.
